Elzie "Outys" Nelson

Elzie Larry “Outys” Nelson, age 70 of Hixson, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2015. He was preceded in death by his parents Rolland Q. and Irene (Smith) Nelson, grandparents Mack F. and Martha “Ma” Nelson and John and Savannah Smith, sister Wilma Dillard, brother-in-law Bill Dillard, brother Bobby “Ralph” Nelson and niece Annette Millwood.
He is survived by his wife Rose Marie Nelson of Hixson, daughter Renee (Mark) Griffin of Estill Springs, two sons E. J. (Tina) Thorpe and Gregory (Rhonda) Thorpe of Hixson, special family friend Michael Burns, four grandchildren, Kristin, Melissa, Nathan and Elizabeth and seven great-grandchildren, Gage, Jonathan, Michael, Jr., Autumn, Lucy, and Ely and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services for Elzie will be held Saturday at 12:00 noon in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Pleasantview Cemetery, followed by a white dove release.
The family is being cared for by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton where they will receive friends Friday evening from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
