Elmer Yearwood

Elmer Winston Yearwood, age 71 of Dayton, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Rhea Medical Center in Dayton. He was born in Loudon County on April 14, 1946 to the late John and Burzella (Petty) Yearwood. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Tammy Owensby, two brothers, JR Yearwood and Lloyd Yearwood and a sister, Gracie Thomas.
Elmer lived most of his life in Sale Creek. He worked as a concrete truck driver for many years and more recently as a welder. Elmer was a member of Sale Creek Community Church and he enjoyed fishing and coon hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Nyoka (Thomas) Yearwood of Dayton, his son Troy (Cindy) Yearwood of Soddy, two daughters Peggy Yearwood of Dayton and Christina Utt of Chattanooga. He is also survived by his brothers Marvin (Jane) Yearwood of Dayton and Claude (Elaine) Yearwood of Graysville, three grandchildren Crystal, Megan, and Cody, four great-grandchildren Jayla, Carter, Ryleigh and Bray.
Funeral services for Elmer will be held on Saturday at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Glennis Thomas officiating. He will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens.
