Ellis Ray Fields, age 65 of the Cedine Community went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Tuesday morning, September 8, 2009 at his home. He was born in Sprigg, WV on April 6, 1944 the son of the late Rush and Lillie (Patterson) Fields and was also preceded in death by his infant son, Eldon Ray Fields and his brother, Jerry Fields.
Ellis attended Appalachian Bible Institute in WV and graduated from Southland Bible Institute in KY. He had served as a missionary pastor in KY and has been serving at the Cedine Bible Mission since 1985. He was an active member of the Christian Fellowship Church on Grandview Mountain where he was chairman of the building committee. He thoroughly enjoyed flowers and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joan (Fox) Fields, two sons, Rob (Sarah) Fields of Kansas City, MO and Rick (Suzanne) Fields of Knoxville; brother, Ron (Peggy) Fields of Roanoke, IN; sisters,Shelby Asbury of Huntington, WV, Melissa (Dan) Miller of Johnstown, OH and Cynthia (Jeff) Davis of Cedarville, OH; sister-in-law, Virginia Fields of Grand Rapids, MI and his seven grandchildren, Jared, JoHannah, Elle, Emma, Libby, Jake and Max Fields.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 11:00am in the Christian Fellowship Church on Grandview Mountain with his pastor, Rev. Steve Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be in the Cedine Bible Mission Cemetery.
The family is being served by Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton where they will receive friends Thursday from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. Ellis will also lie in state at his church one hour prior to the service.
