Jessie Elizabeth Strickland Harvey, age 70 went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 28, 2008 in a Decatur, TN nursing home. Elizabeth was born in Hartsville, SC on October 28, 1937 the daughter of the late Joseph Tyson Powe and Hattie Rachel (Griggs) Powe. She was also preceded in death by the father of her children, Frank Strickland and sisters Josephine and Violet Powe.
Elizabeth lived in the Soddy area for most of her life and had been employed as a seamstress for many years. She was of the Baptist faith.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Linda “Gail” Montgomery of Birchwood, son, Frank Strickland, Jr. of Surf City, SC, sister, Lois Crowley of Hartsville, SC, brother, Leslie Walker Powe of Hartsville, SC, son-in-law, Roy Montgomery of Dayton, sister-in-law, Etheline “Dunc” Wolfe of Reivesville, WV, brother-in-law, Hart “Buck” Dixon of Patrick, SC, aunt, Esther Griggs of Pine Ridge, SC, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside services for Elizabeth will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00am at the Cranmore Cove Cemetery in Dayton with Rev. Dennis McChargue officiating.

The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton.
