Joan Schanley Russell

Elba Joan (Schanley) Russell age 85 passed away at her home in Henderson, NV late Friday evening, June 5, 2020. Joan was born in Dayton, TN on November 29, 1934 the daughter of the late Ray and Holly (Burchard) Schanley. She was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, her four years old son Jerry Lynn Russell, brother, Billy Ray Schanley and sisters, Betty Arnett and Barbara Schanley.

Joan moved to Battle Creek, MI as a youngster and as a teen she moved to Whittier, CA. She had been a resident of Henderson, NV since 1984. She was a homemaker and due to her failing health, her last years were difficult.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, James Russell of Henderson, NV, two sons, Delbert Russell of Cheyenne, WY and Jeffrey (Sharon) Keeling of Hixson, TN, two brothers, Paul (Marilyn) Schanley of Arleta, CA and Phillip “Harold” (Kris) Schanley of Rossville, GA. She is also survived by her granddaughter Kathleen Keeling-Snow of NH and three grandchildren, Iaan Snow-Shaw of ME, Dalton Tibbetts and Willow Tibbetts both of NH. Joan was also nana to Sabrina Meadows of Henderson, NV.

Funeral services for Joan will be held Friday afternoon, June 12th, 2020 at 3:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. John Fields officiating. She will be laid to rest in the family plot at Rhea Memory Gardens in Dayton, TN.
