Obituary

Edwin Francis Farnsworth, age 83 of Dayton, was transported from his earthly life to his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, October 2, 2026. He was born in Dayton on December 27, 1942, the son of the late Edwin and Eula (Hicks) Farnsworth. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Rose Mary (Jewell) Farnsworth and his sister, Ellen Farnsworth.

Edwin was a graduate of Rhea Central High School class of 1961 and studied two years at MTSU. Until his retirement he had been employed by DuPont, Dayton Co-Op and repaired both automobiles and farm equipment. His goals were to love God and draw close to him, to serve God and others whenever he could and point others to Christ.

Edwin was a longtime member of the Ogden Road Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon and Sunday School superintendent. More recently he has been a member of Grace Bible Church.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Jane Ellen (Hodges) Farnsworth of Dayton; his two sons, William (Missy) Farnsworth and Donald Farnsworth; his sister Rose Mary Farnsworth all of Dayton Mountain; his brother, Frank (Mary) Farnsworth of Soddy Daisy; and his three granddaughters, Meredith, Savannah, and Caitlyn Farnsworth.

Graveside services for Edwin will be on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 11:00 am at Ogden Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife Rose Mary with Pastor Jim Woychuck officiating.
