Edith Hixson Bean

Edith Hixson Bean, age 96, of Dayton died Monday, September 23, 2013 at Life Care Center of Rhea County. She was born April 24, 1917 in Dunlap, TN to the late Rutherford and Grace Barger Hixson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Bean and sisters, Azile Hixson Lockhart and Reba Hixson Sharpe.
Edith was a graduate of Sequatchie County High School and Abel School of Business. She was a member of Graysville United Methodist Church and retired from Robinson Mfg. Co.
Edith is survived by her daughter, Wanda (Dallas) Smith; grandson, Darren (Amanda) Smith; great-granddaughter, Megan Smith, all of Dayton; sister, Carolyn (Charles) Powell of Hixson.
Services for Edith will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Andy Miles officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Pleasantview Cemetery in Graysville.
