Easter Thornburg

Easter Thornburg, age 98, of Manchester, TN and formerly of Dayton, died Thursday, January 8, 2009 at the Manchester Health Care Center. She was born March 27, 1910 in Sale Creek, TN, the daughter of the late Edward and Annie (May) Gothard. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Fred Crawley and Herman Thornburg and her son W.L. Crawley.

Easter lived in Hamilton and Rhea Counties most of her life until moving to Manchester in 1997. She worked for Kayser Roth Hosiery Mills for many years and enjoyed sewing and knitting, quilting, growing flowers and gardening. She attended Grace Bible Church in Dayton.

Easter is survived by her daughter Nina Slater of Manchester, sister, Annabel Hall of Sale Creek, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Easter will be held Sunday at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Dr. Doug Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Rhea Memory Gardens.

The family is being served by Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton where they will receive friends Sunday after 12:00 noon.
