Doyle Eddie Francisco, age 74 of Dayton, died November 11, 2014 at his home. He was born May 27, 1940 in the Pennine Community to the late Doyle and Patsy (Underwood) Francisco.
He was also preceded in death by his stepfather Jerome Underwood and sister Theresa Underwood.
Eddie was a long time resident of Rhea County. He served our country in the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War. He spent time as a fireman, EMT, car lot owner, and recognized as Jim Walter’s Builder of the Year. He was a police officer for 42 years, former Chief Police Officer in Rhea County, Hamilton County, and Lookout Mtn. GA. Eddie was currently serving as County Commissioner for the Sixth District of Rhea County. He enjoyed raising cattle, fishing, and spending time with his family. He also attended New Providence Baptist Church in Sale Creek.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sandy (Coxey) Francisco , two sons Jeff Stephenson, Ryan (Heather) Stephenson all of Dayton, two daughters Doylene Francisco of Chattanooga, Daisha (Mikey) Waller of Dayton, two brothers Ronald (Dawn) Underwood of Houston ,TX, Dale (Laura) Underwood of Ft.Wayne,IN, and a sister Vicki (Neil) Place of Taylor,MI, seven grandchildren Tyler ,Mason, Dylan, and Shelby Stephenson, Judah Holly, Michael and Kaygon Waller.
Funeral services for Eddie will be held Thursday at noon in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tommy Wilkey officiating. He will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens with military honors followed by a white dove release.
