Douglas Gerald “Buddy” Henley age 74 of Dayton died late Friday evening November 19, 2010 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. Buddy was born in Meigs County on September 27, 1936 the son of the late William and Livia (Jordan) Henley. He was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Hoyal Henley, Edward Henley, Bill Henley, Wilma McReynolds, Imogene Cunningham, Claudette Elsea and Patty Jo Watts.
Buddy lived most of his life in Rhea County. He was a graduate of the Spring City High School and graduated from barber school. He served his country with the US Army and formerly owned Buddy’s Barber Shop in Dayton and Cloverleaf Barber Shop in Hixson. He was a member of New Union Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Carolyn (Holden) Henley of Dayton and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services for Buddy will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00pm in Rhea Memory Gardens with his pastor, Dr. Danny Ruehling officiating. Military honors will follow.
