Dorothy Ilene Heiser Bruehl, 94, of Dayton, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, at her residence surrounded by family.
Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, at Grace Church in Normal, Ill. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, at the church. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington, Ill., and Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton are assisting the family with arrangements.
A private family interment will be held at East Bend Memorial Gardens in Fisher, Ill. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Church in Normal, Bryan College, or to CRU (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ).
Dorothy was born on Sept. 3, 1925, in Fisher, Ill., a daughter to Sam J. and Tillie Ingold Heiser. She married John R. Bruehl on May 1, 1946, in Fisher, Ill. He preceded her in death on April 9, 1999.
Surviving are her sons, J. Roger (Maggie) Bruehl, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Jeffrey R. (Darlene) Bruehl, of Dayton, and Alan D. (Susan) Bruehl, of Bloomington, Ill.; 12 grandchildren, Rebecca Cosper, of Orlando, Fla., Jessica Wilson, of Cape Coral, Fla., James Bruehl, of Orlando, Fla., Amanda Bruehl, of New Brunswick, N.J., Julia Taylor, of Greenville, S.C., Angela O’Keefe, of Spring City, Laura Bruehl, of Dayton, Samuel Kirk, of Soddy-Daisy, Tenn., Jaree Kneller, of Lebanon, Tenn., Casey Bruehl, of Glen Carbon, Ill., Emily Fischer, of Indianapolis, Ind., and Alex Bruehl, of Bloomington, Ill.; 19 great-grandchildren; and brother, Melvin Heiser, of Fisher, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Evelyn Springer and Lorene Builta; and brother, Lloyd Heiser.
Dorothy was a long-time member of the Christian Woman’s Club, as well as Grace Church in Normal, Ill. After residing at Westminster Village in Bloomington, Ill., from 2011 to 2014, where she enjoyed many friendships, old and new, she lived her remaining years with her son, Jeff and his wife Darlene in Dayton.
