Donna Vanderwall, age 85 of Dayton went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday morning, April 27, 2008 while surrounded by her family at her home. Donna was born in Muskegon, MI on March 13, 1923 the daughter of the late John and Dora (Koning) DeGroot. She was also preceded in death by her infant twin brother Jack and her sister, Helen DeGroot.
Donna was raised in Muskegon and was a graduate of the North Muskegon High School class of 1941. She remained in Muskegon until moving to northern Michigan in 1974 and then in 1987 she moved to Dayton, TN.
Donna was a charter member of Laketon Bethel Reformed Church in North Muskegon and was currently a member of Grace Bible Church in Dayton. Donna was a homemaker and assisted her son at his funeral home in Northern Michigan and then in Dayton. She loved to cook and bake and work in her yard.
Donna is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, Elmer Vanderwall of Dayton, her two sons, David (Sandi) Vanderwall of The Villages, FL and Tom (Jan) Vanderwall of Dayton, her sister, Barbara (Irving) Hansen of North Muskegon, MI, six grandchildren, Adam (Erin) Vanderwall of NYC, NY, Aaron Vanderwall of Cookeville, TN, Alex (Lisa) Vanderwall of Dayton, Kaley Vanderwall of Cleveland, TN, Andy Vanderwall of Dayton, TN, Stacey (Layton) Herbert of Reeves, LA and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Donna will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:00pm in the funeral home chapel with her pastors, Dr. Doug Russell and Rev. John Fields officiating. Burial will be in Rhea Memory Gardens in Dayton followed by a white dove release.
Donna’s family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday after 4:00pm.
