Dixie Cornelia Yates, age 67, of Dayton, TN died early Monday morning, April 7, 2014 at her home. She was born March 20, 1947 in Mize, MS to the late Earl Sims and Virginia (Lockey) Sims Robinson. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Jimmie Truitt Sims and her sister, Florence Maxine Davis.
A resident of Dayton since 1996, Dixie previously lived in Meigs County, TN and Raleigh, MS. She was employed as an LPN at area health care centers. Dixie was a member of Jesus’ Name Church in Sylvarna, MS then Watts Bar Church of God in Meigs County, TN.
Dixie is survived by her husband of 41 years, James Yates; her son, James “Sean” (Wendy) Yates , all of Dayton,TN; her daughter , Ardis “Halee” (Sam) Hargadon ; two grandchildren, Olivia “Gwyneth” Hargadon and Kevan “Jacob” Hargadon, all of Carlton Place Ontario, Canada; sister, Tessie Ann (Chris) Keating of Louisiana and numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Liberty Baptist Church in Raleigh, MS with Rev. Stanley Doggett officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Liberty Baptist Church cemetery.

The family is being served by Vanderwall Funeral Home where they will be receiving friends Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and also at the Liberty Baptist Church one hour before the funeral on Friday.
