Dean Crawley age 76 of Dayton died Sunday, January 14, 2007 in her home. She was born November 16, 1930 in Rhea County, the daughter of the late Patrick and Lola (Jordan) Sexton. She was also preceded in death by her husband W. L. “Dub” Crawley.
She lived in Rhea County all her life where she graduated from Rhea Central High School and then graduated from Dalton Jr. College. Dean retired as director of Rhea County FSA after 38 years. She was an avid gardener and loved reading and formerly played the organ and piano at her church. She was a member of Garrison Baptist Church.
Dean is survived by her two daughters, Daphne (Ken) Wood of Blackville, SC. and Sharon Sharpe of Dayton, her grandsons, Tim (Sherri) Sharpe, Bill Sharpe and (fiance’ Karen Monday) all of Dayton and Jeff (Kelley) Wood of Columbia, SC., great-grand daughter, Kayla Sharpe of Dayton and great -grandson, Peyton Dean Wood of Columbia, SC., one sister, Betty Arnold of Dayton, mother-in-law, Easter Thornburg and sister-in-law, Nina (Norman) Slater all of Manchester, TN. She is also survived by her beloved dog and companion Mindy.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11am in the funeral home chapel with Rev. David Jordan and Rev. J. C. Gholdston officiating. Burial will be next to her husband in Rhea Memory Gardens followed by a white dove release.
The family is being served by Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton where they will receive friends Monday 4-8pm.
