Dean Cox

Dean Sterrett Cox, age 59, of Dayton, TN, died Friday, July 11, 2008 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. Dean was born April 13, 1949 in Spring City, TN, the son of the late Doc and Lela Cox. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Sue (Reed) Cox.

Dean lived in Rhea County all of his life and was an engineer with Norfolk Southern Railway since 1971. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Viet Nam and was a member of the Garrison Baptist Church.

Dean is survived by his sons, Stephen Cox of Dayton and David Cox of Nashville, and granddaughters Linda Jill Cox and Alisha Cox of Dayton.

Funeral services for Dean will be held Monday at 4:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Doyse Thompson officiating. Burial with full military honors followed by a white dove release will be in the Spring City Memorial Gardens.
