David Clingan, age 74 of Dayton, passed away Sunday July 19, 2015 at Skyridge Medical Center in Cleveland. He was born September 5, 1940 in Rhea County to the late Eugene and Isabelle (Eakins) Clingan. He was also preceded in death by his great-grandson Timothy Layne Keylon.
A life-long resident of Rhea County, David was employed in maintenance at Polyloom. He loved to fish and belonged to various fishing clubs. He was an avid sports fan and loved U.T. Athletics, the Atlanta Braves and NASCAR, but mostly he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He attended Ogden Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rebecca (Barnes) Clingan of Dayton, two sons Phillip (Marcie) Clingan of Dayton and Jeff (Beth) Keylon of Sale Creek, daughter Debbie (Agnew) Jewell of Dayton, two grandsons Colton (Lindsey) Clingan of Dayton and Ryan (Breanna) Keylon of Sale Creek, one granddaughter Chloe Clingan of Dayton, two step-great-granddaughters Aubrey and Olivia Macon of Dayton, one brother Don (Donna) Clingan of Sale Creek, sister-in-law Sandra (Phillip) Walker of Charlotte, NC and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for David will be held Tuesday at 4:00 p m in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jimmy Jewell and Rev. Shane Johnston officiating. He will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens.
Pall bearers will be his grandsons Colton Clingan and Ryan Keylon, nephew Donnie Clingan and Ron Bryant, Mayor Hall and Rick Brady and honorary pallbearer Larry Brooks.

The family is being cared for by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton where they will receive friends Monday from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
