Daniel Millard Woody, age 92 of Dayton, passed away at Rhea Medical Center on Sunday, July 6, 2025. He was born in Limestone, Tennessee, on May 21, 1933, the son of the late James G. Woody and Blanche (Pleasant) Woody. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Crystal Freels; his sister, Lena Earls; and his brothers, Paul Woody and Gary Woody.
Daniel lived in Dayton since 2014 and was the former owner/operator of Woody’s Trailer Park. He retired after 45 years with Local 46 in Knoxville as an insulator at nuclear plants. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 267 F&AM in Donaldsonville, Georgia, for over 40 years and was also a member of Alhambra Shrine. He was a member of Gum Strings Baptist Church and later Smyrna Baptist Church.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Gretchen (Porter) Woody of Dayton; his sons, Jason (Kathryn) Woody of Winter Haven, Florida, and David Woody of Dayton; his daughter, Danette Poole of Georgetown; his sisters, Irene (Claude) Swatzel of Chuckey, Tennessee, and Holly Carter and Precilla Clark, both of Greenville; his brother, William Woody of Dayton; and his nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Daniel will be in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. with Dr. Roger Rothwell and his brother-in-law, Rev. Claude Swatzel, officiating. He will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens with his nephew, Rev. Tim Woody, officiating.

The family is being cared for by Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton, Tennessee, where they will receive friends on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
