Dan Denton

Richard Dan Denton age 87 of Dayton died Saturday, September 04, 2010 at his home. He was born on April 15, 1923 the son of the late Richard Jack Denton and Callie (Morgan) Denton. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Rita Ann Denton and his sister, Ruth Denton.

Dan was a lifelong resident of Dayton where he was a semi truck driver for 58 years. He served his country with the US Marine Corps during WWII, serving in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Spivey Memorial United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Anna Kate (Mayton) Denton, his son, Richard Dean Denton and his granddaughter, Janet Denton all of Dayton, his sister Mary Kate Phillips of Norris, TN.

Funeral services for Dan will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel with his pastor, Rev. Bill Ewing officiating. He will be laid to rest in Buttram Cemetery with military honors.

The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home where they will receive friends Monday from 12noon until the service.
