Connie Irene “Gypsy” (Maye) Cooper of Sale Creek, TN, went home to be with our Lord on January 30, 2024. Connie was married to the love of her life, Benjamin Jackson Cooper, for 55 years, 4 months, and 6 days. She drove special education buses for Hamilton County School District for 27 years. She loved music and dancing every Saturday night and sang in her church choir at Unity Baptist every Sunday. She loved her family and her friends so very much. Anyone who knew Connie usually knew her as “Gypsy” and knew she was a sweet, sassy woman who loved life and crossword puzzles.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Tillman and Jewell (Hope) Maye; her siblings, Easter, Maudie, and Dewey; and her grandchildren, Jewell and Paul Daniel.
Connie is survived by her husband, Jack Cooper of Sale Creek and her children, Tabitha (Clark) Daniel of Sale Creek, Timmy Cooper of Rougemont, NC, Shawn (Kim) Cooper of Evensville, and Clark (Sarah) Cooper of Sale Creek. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Caylee, Haylee, and Abbie Cooper, Ryan Cooper, Samantha (Adam) Van Roy, Elizabeth Burnette, Holly Daniel, Dewayne (Taylor) Daniel, Charley Daniel, and Trisha Roberts. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Jaycee, Jackson, Jameson, and Jemma Daniel, Hunter Van Roy, Axle Harvey, Maycee Daniel, Gracie Henshaw, Brooklyn Garren, Skyler Burnette, Shelby Sims, and Danny Roberts. She is also survived by her siblings, Trina Foster, Hazel Poole, and Bobby Sutton.
Connie was laid to rest in the Patterson Cemetery in Sale Creek. There will be a Celebration of Life service in her honor at the Sale Creek Fire Hall on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m..
The family asks that you donate to Alzheimer’s research, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or Shriners Hospital for Children.
The family would like to give special thanks to Gayla and all the hospice nurses that came and helped us care for Connie during her last years. We are grateful for your help and comfort.
