Clifford Joseph Cruver, age 95 of Dayton, passed away at The Courtyard at Deer Ridge on Thursday, August 6, 2026. He was born in Walden, New York, on September 19, 1930, the son of the late LeRoy and Carolyn (VanderMark) Cruver. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Janet Marilyn (Johnson) Cruver in 2015 and his brother, James Cruver.

Clifford relocated to Dayton in 1989 after years in Zephyrhills, Florida, where he had married and raised his family. A graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, he proudly served his country during the Korean War as a mechanic stationed in Guam with the U.S. Air Force. By trade he was a carpenter, skilled in woodworking and cabinetry, and he also worked as a piano tuner. Earlier in life, he pastored a church in Dade City, Florida. Before moving to Dayton, he attended First Church of the Nazarene in Zephyrhills, Florida, but then attended Sale Creek Church of God.

Clifford is survived by his sons, Timothy (Eva) Cruver of Dayton, Jonathan Cruver of Spring City, and Mark Cruver and Samuel (Erin) Cruver, both of Fayetteville, Georgia; his 12 grandchildren; and his five great-grandchildren.

A family graveside funeral service with US Air Force military honors will be at Chattanooga National Cemetery on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
