Clayton Chester Rothwell, age 81 of Sale Creek, died Friday afternoon June 24, 2011 at his home. Clayton was born in Pikeville on October 19, 1929, the son of the late Herman and Carrie (Gill) Rothwell. He was also preceded in death by his two sisters, Dorothy Thurman and Bonnie Sneed.

Clayton had resided in Sale Creek since 1970 and had been employed in the textile mills and in farming. He was a member of the Mount Vernon Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Frances (Elsea) Rothwell, his son Roger (Donna) Rothwell, grandson Michael Hodges all of Sale Creek, great-granddaughter, Zoey Hodges, three brothers, Clyde Rothwell of Harrison, Floyd (Billie) Rothwell of Lupton City, Gerald Rothwell of Dayton, three sisters, Frances Osteika of Ooltewah, Beulah McKinney of Ocoee and Janice (Larry) Clayton of Georgetown.

Funeral services for Clayton will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jimmy Jewell and Rev. Emory Layne officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Mount Vernon Church Cemetery in Sale Creek.
