Clara Lee Wilson, age 83 of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga following a brief illness. Clara was born June 9, 1926 in Dayton to the late Joe and Della (Dyer) Potter.
Clara was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed traveling and the many lifelong friends she acquired as a military wife, and continued into retirement. Among her many interests, she was a master seamstress and crafts person who shared her special gifts with family and friends. Clara was a woman of faith who participated in activities together with fellowships at Spivey United Methodist Church, having membership since childhood. She lived her life by the Lord’s Golden Rule, instilling these values in her children.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, J.B. Wilson, her daughter Joyce (Herb) Johnson of Billings, MT, sons, Steve (Myra) Wilson and Randy (Sherri) Wilson both of Dayton, sisters Neve Morgan, Wanda Yother and Thelma DaVault all of Dayton and Betty Woodard of Ft. Myers, FL, brothers Julian Potter of Atlanta, GA, Carlos Potter of Chattanooga and Phillip Potter of Dayton, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The memorial service for Clara will be held Saturday at 2:00 pm at the Spivey United Methodist Church in Dayton with Rev. Bill Ewing officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm at the church.
