Charles Bert “Chuck” Nixon age 65 of Dayton died Thursday evening August 18, 2016 at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. Chuck was born in Rhea County on June 7, 1951 the son of the late Charles and Nora (Gentry) Nixon. He was also preceded in death by his brother James Lowell Nixon and his sister Bonnie Williams.
Chuck was a lifelong resident of Dayton and had been employed at Dayton Products for twenty years and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union. He was an accomplished woodworker and cabinet maker and an avid fisherman.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 43 years, Thelma (Roberts) Nixon of Dayton, his son, Wayne (Marsha) Nixon of Soddy Daisy, two grandchildren, Emily Nixon and Ben Nixon both of Soddy Daisy, two brothers, George (Judy) Nixon and Arnold (Susan) Nixon both of Dayton, three sisters, Donna (James) Thompson of Grandview, Brenda Hickman of Dayton and Janice Whitfield of Spring City.
Graveside funeral services for Chuck will be held Sunday at 2 pm at the French Cemetery in Dayton with his friend, Rev. George Morgan officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his parents.
