Charles Truman Kinney, Jr. age 67 of Dayton, passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga. He was born in Binghamton, NY on March 31, 1950 and was the son of the late Charles Truman Kinney Sr. and Doris (Reid) Kinney Basos. He was also preceded in death by his brother Joseph D. Kinney, Sr.
Chuck lived in Nichols, NY for many years and moved to Dayton, TN in 1986. He served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam war. He was the Assistant Chief for the Rhea County Fire Department where he was also the Fire Investigator. Chuck was a member of Corvin Road Baptist Church, a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators, the Masonic Lodge 512 F&AM, the American Legion Post 100 and was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Sue (Tyner) Kinney of Dayton, a son Charles T. Kinney III of Jonesboro, GA, two brothers Michael C. (Pat) Kinney of Spring City, George Basos of Owego, NY and three sisters Bonnie (Robert) Card of Milton, FL, Kathy (James) Hamlin of Apalachin, NY and Shawn (Mike) Bostwick of Nichols, NY.
Funeral services for Chuck will be held Monday at 12:00 noon in the funeral home chapel with his pastor Rev. Steve James officiating. He will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens with Military Honors.

The family is being cared for by the Vanderwall Funeral Home where they will receive friends Sunday from 3 pm until 9 pm.
