Charles "Chuck" E. Crawley

Charles “Chuck” Crawley, 77, of Rossville, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 7, 2026.

Chuck was a lifelong servant to his community and a man who took great pride in his family, his work, and the people he was fortunate enough to know throughout his life. He was a member of the 1968 class of Rhea County High School, where he enjoyed playing football. Chuck attended Cleveland State Community College, where he received training and certification in TVA security.

Chuck began his career in law enforcement with the Dayton Police Department, serving as a deputy before eventually becoming Chief of Police in 1979. He later continued his career with TVA, from which he retired in 2013. Chuck was also the proud owner and operator of Tennessee Security and Investigative Services. Even during his retirement years, he continued doing what he enjoyed, working security at Warehouse Row and at the Federal Building in Chattanooga.

Chuck was a member of the Knights of Pythias, the Shriners, and Lookout Valley Masonic Lodge F&AM. His faith was an important part of his life. He was a member of Woodstation United Methodist Church, and while his favorite place of worship was often his own home, Chuck enjoyed watching preachers on television and listening to gospel music.

Chuck had many interests and enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved old cars and muscle cars and especially enjoyed spending time at the Cleveland Raceway and Brainerd Raceway. He had a great sense of humor and could always bring a smile or a laugh to those around him. One of the special ways Chuck shared that humor, and kindness was by playing Santa Claus for children's homes and nursing homes throughout the area, bringing joy to countless children and residents.

While Chuck accomplished much throughout his life and took great pride in his career and service to others, his greatest passion was his family. He loved his family dearly and treasured the time he spent with them. Those who knew Chuck will remember him for his dedication, his humor, his generous spirit, and the love he had for the people closest to him.

Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Janice Greene Perry Crawley; children, Matthew Brian Crawley (Rene), Aaron Crawley (Diana) and Beth Hixson (Allen); stepchildren Kristie Perry-Davis (Chris), Traci Perry-Scranton (Lenny), Missie Lytle and Ami Patterson; sister, Linda Crawley Rice; grandchildren, Coty Hixon, Caty Pierce (Ryan), Chance Crawley (Jessica) and Evan Crawley; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Lane Funeral Home South Crest Chapel on Tuesday from 4:00p.m. to 8:00p.m.

Funeral services will be held at Vanderwall Funeral Home on Wednesday at 6:00p.m.

Arrangements are by the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville, GA.
