Carol Chloe Dorsey age 75 of Dayton Mountain died at her home Wednesday morning February 16, 2011 surrounded by her family. Chloe was born in Dayton on December 9, 1935 the daughter of the late William Edward “Ed” Baker and Chloe (Peavyhouse) Baker. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Thelma Johnston and Billie Baker and her brother Charles Baker.
Chloe lived all of her life in Dayton where she was a beloved 3rd grade school teacher at Dayton City School for forty years. She was a graduate of Rhea Central High School, attended Asbury College in Kentucky and graduated from Bryan College. She was a member and past president of Delta Kappa Gamma and also a member of the Vine Grove Methodist Church.
She is survived by her two daughters, Joyce (Farrell) Landon of Brunswick, GA and Sarah (Doug) Gatlin of Atlanta, GA, five grandchildren, Hal Dorsey of Trenton, TN, Caleb Gatlin of San Francisco, CA, Lindsey Mosby of Palmetto, GA, Rachel Williams of Brunswick, GA , Jennifer Landon of Brunswick, GA, four great-grandsons and her special niece Carol Johnston of Chattanooga.
Funeral services for Chloe will be held Friday evening at 7:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald officiating. A family committal service will be held Saturday morning in Buttram Cemetery.
