Betty “Carlene” Brady, age 53, of Dayton, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at her mother’s home. She was born January 8, 1958 in Dayton. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Mark Brady, grandparents Dalton and Mary Jane Ewton, uncles Bill Phillips and Robert Tate and aunt Wilma Sue Tate.
She is survived by her mother Louise Harris of Dayton, daughters Amber Louise Brady of Dayton and Jennifer Nicole (Johnny) Butler of East Ridge, sister Melissa Coulter of Dayton, brother Darrell (Darlene) Byrd of Hixson, brother-in-law Troy (Patty) Brady of Houston, TX, sister-in-law Martha Jo Howell of Dayton, aunt Wanda Phillips of Dayton, several nieces and nephews and four honorary grandchildren, Marissa Coulter and Austin Morgan, both of Dayton and Macayla and Kalie Strickland, both of Rome, GA.
A lifelong resident of Rhea County, she was a graduate of Rhea County High School and she earned her Associate degree at Chattanooga State. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter and friend. She was involved with the Southeast Tennessee Council for HIV/Aids Care and Prevention, Girl Scouts of the USA, Toastmasters, International and the Rhea of Sunshine Human Rights Committee.
Funeral services for Carlene will be Friday at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Andrew Frierson and Rev. Mike Farr officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Spence Cemetery.
