Burlie O. Harrison, age 93, died Saturday evening, October 11, 2014 at U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville. He was born September 4, 1921 in Knox County, Kentucky to the late George Wesley Albert Harrison and Lillie McKinney Harrison. He was also preceded in death by his son Danny Harrison, brothers Mack Harrison and Paul Harrison, and sisters Geneva Logan, Beulah Logan, Pauline Perkins and Jeanette Anderson.
A resident of Spring City since 1992, he previously lived in Ann Arbor, MI. He retired as a millwright with the National Steel Corporation. He loved volunteer work and was an active staff volunteer at Cedine Bible Camp. He served his country with the U.S. Army Air Corp. during WWII. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Spring City.
Burlie is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mae (Stewart) Harrison of Spring City, his son David (Janice) Harrison of Milan, MI, three daughters Diane (Thom) Harris of Ypsilanti, MI, Danita (Danny) Galanopoulos of Loxley, AL and daughter Donna (Rick) Guerra of Knoxville, brother Eugene (Una Faye) Harrison of Williamsburg, KY, sister Sue Buhl of Dalton, GA, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Burlie will be held Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at the Jubilee Center at Cedine Bible Camp in Spring City. The family will receive friends at the Jubilee Center from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Wednesday. He will be laid to rest in the Cedine Cemetery.
