Bobby Gene Trotter, age 84 of Dayton, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023, at his home. He was born in Greeneville, Tennessee, on August 3, 1939, the son of the late Thomas Bailey Trotter and Imogene (Sizemore) Trotter. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Trotter, and his sister, Jacquelyn Lail.
Bobby was a lifetime resident of Dayton; served his country in the US Army; and was employed as a plumber, pipefitter, and welder with Georgia Power. Bobby loved fishing, outdoor activities, gardening, whittling his cedar stick, football, NASCAR, boxing, and going to Brayton Mountain. He attended Garrison Baptist Church.
Bobby is survived by his wife of 52 years, Martha (Wooden) Trotter; his three sons, Bobby (Valerie) Trotter of Cleveland, Tennessee, Darren (Bethany) Trotter of San Diego, California, and Justin (Lori) Trotter, of Chattanooga; his eight grandchildren, Matt Trotter, Holly (Caleb Russell) Trotter, Jessica (Drew) Patton, Hayden Trotter, Patrick Trotter, Blake Trotter, Brooklyn Beavers, and Kaylee Phillips; and his six great-grandchildren, Maddi Trotter, Barrett Trotter, Ariat Howard, Kyndare Trotter, Lyric Patton, and Maryn Patton.
Funeral services for Bobby will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. with Marv Eskew, Hearth Hospice chaplain, officiating. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Rhea Memory Gardens after the service.
