Bobby Wagner Hobbs, age 94 of Dayton, peacefully went to be with his Jesus on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at The Veranda Rhea County Life Care. He was born in Johnson City, TN, on May 20, 1929, the son of the late Raymond Kelly Hobbs and Leona (Woodruff) Hobbs. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Ruth (Brinkley) Hobbs; his son, Robert “Chip” Hobbs; and his granddaughter, Sarah Clifford.
Bobby was a longtime resident of Largo, FL, until moving to Dayton in 2018 to be near his family. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, received a Bachelor’s degree from East Tennessee State University, and was employed as a business and marketing executive for IBM. While living in Florida he was a member of the Grace Christian Fellowship Church where he was a pianist and organist, and he later became a member of Grace Bible Church in Dayton. He enjoyed gardening and bowling.
He is survived by his two sons, Rev. David (Ruth) Hobbs of Dayton and Rev. Andrew (Shelli) Hobbs of Avalon, CA, and his daughter, Christy (Greg) Walton of Dayton. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services with U.S. Navy Military Honors for Bobby will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery with his sons, Rev. David Hobbs and Rev. Andrew Hobbs officiating.
