Robert Washington Pelfrey, age 88 of Dayton died early Saturday morning, August 26, 2017 at Rhea Medical Center. Bob was born in Rhea County on December 16, 1928 to the late Thomas and Caroline (Russell) Pelfrey. He was also preceded in death by his beloved son, David Pelfrey, brothers, Stanley Pelfrey, Thomas Pelfrey and Tex Pelfrey, his sisters, Hazel Pelfrey, Ruby Roberts, Faye Clark and Mildred Cochran.
Bob served his country with the US Army serving two tours in Viet Nam and one tour during the Korean War. He retired after 20 years as a 1st SGT, E-8 but Rhea County has always been his home. Bob was an active member of the Dayton Masonic Lodge #512 F & AM and the Masonic organizations KYCH, ROUS, OPC and KCT. Bob has served his community as a former Rhea County Sheriff deputy and was involved with the Rhea County High School ROTC program. He was a member of the New Union Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Cazilie (Berglehner) Pelfrey of Dayton, his brother, Harley (Glenda) Pelfrey of Evensville Mountain and numerous nephews and nieces.
Funeral services for Bob will be held Monday at 12 noon in the funeral home Chapel with his pastor, Dr. Danny Ruehling officiating followed by a Masonic Memorial Service. Burial with full military honors will follow at Pierce Cemetery in Evensville.
