William Elbert Ellis, age 85 of Dayton died at his home Saturday evening January 18, 2014 while surrounded by his family. Bill was born in Dayton on November 30, 1928 the son of the late Foster and Lella (Green) Ellis.
He was a graduate of Rhea Central High School Class of 1947. A resident of Dayton for most of his life, he retired as a residential and commercial carpenter. He also enjoyed farming and gardening. Bill was a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Dayton.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Iva (Smith) Ellis of Dayton, his daughter Debi Ellis of Dayton, two sons, Gary (Connie) Ellis of Allegan, MI and William (Tina) Ellis II, of Dayton. Bill is also survived by his sister, Vera Jones of Daingerfield, TX, his brother, James Ellis of Spring City, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Bill will be held Tuesday at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ray Hill officiating. He will be laid to rest in Buttram Cemetery in Dayton.
