Betty Ray

Elizabeth “Betty” Brooks Ray, age 83 of Dayton, passed away late Thursday night, August 20, 2015 at Erlanger in Chattanooga. She was born November 7, 1931 in Chattanooga to the late Robert W. and Ruth (McRee) Gray. She was also preceded in death by her husband Jewell Greer Ray, her son Larry Dale Ray, her sister Eleanor Hall and her brother David Gray.
A resident of Memphis for many years, Betty retired as an LPN at Memphis Children’s Clinic. She was a resident of Dayton since 1996 and was a member of the Sale Creek Independent Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her son Alan (Margot) Ray of Sacramento, CA, sister Mary Gray of Dayton, grandson Daniel Ray of Chicago, IL and granddaughter Laura (Andrew) Westbrook of Sacramento, CA.
Funeral services for Betty will be held Sunday at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Phil Evaul officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Soddy Presbyterian Cemetery.

The family is being cared for by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton where they will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
