Obituary

Betty Jean Floyd, age 64 of Dayton, passed away at Rhea Medical Center on Sunday, August 2, 2026. She was born in Dayton on December 21, 1961, the daughter of the late James Jordan, Sr. and Louise “Hattie” (Hall) Jordan who survives her. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Timothy Jordan and Jason Jordan; her grandparents, Howard and Nora Jordan and Jake and Dorothy Hall; her grandson, Landon Jordan; her brother, Joseph Jordan; her sister, Geneva Jordan; her sisters-in-law, Melissa Jordan, Connie Jordan, and Francis Jordan; and several aunts and uncles.

Betty spent most of her life in Rhea County, where she devoted herself to being a homemaker. She found joy in simple pleasures—taking walks, drawing, playing games on her tablet, tending to her garden, watching butterflies, and everything in the color purple. Above all, she treasured her children and grandchildren, loving them more than anything in the world. She had a giving heart, always ready to help others and care for the people she loved. Everyone who knew her held her dear, drawn to her sweet nature and genuine goodness.

In addition to her mother, Louise “Hattie” Jordan, Betty is survived by her children, Traci Gann, Jesse Jordan, and Jamie Jordan, all of Dayton; her grandchildren, Logan Jordan, Jesse Pendergrass, Emmy Gann, Riley Gann, Victoria Gann, Julie Ketchersid, Danny Jordan, Dimitri Jordan, and Hayden Jordan; and her brothers, James Jordan, Jr., Earl (Linda) Jordan, Marty Jordan, Billy Jordan, and Richard (Lashawn) Jordan.
