Betty Carter

January 23, 1934 — October 30, 2011

Elizabeth Jean “Betty” Carter, age 77 of Dayton, went peacefully to her heavenly eternal home Sunday morning, October 30, 2011 at her home with her husband of 62 years by her side. She was born January 23, 1934 in Wise, VA to the late James Taze and Nancy Elizabeth (Lewis) Kiser. She was also preceded in death by her son Richard Carlos Carter, Jr., granddaughter Bethany Dianne Clariday, five brothers and two sisters.
Betty received her Associates’ degree at Graham Bible College in Bristol, TN and attended Hamilton County Ohio School of Licensed Practical Nursing with a Licensed Practical Nursing degree. She was employed at Rhea County Nursing Home for 25 years and was employed as an on-site nurse at Telemon Migrant School for 5 years. She was a member of Grace Bible Church and Gideons International Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband Richard “Carlos” Carter, son Phil (Donna) Carter of Chattanooga, daughter Debbie (Jim) Conner of Dayton, grandchildren Jeff Carter and Melanie Carter, Scott Carter McCuiston, and several nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends Tuesday after 4:00 at Grace Bible Church where her funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm with Dr. Doug Russell and Rev. David Hobbs officiating.
She will be laid to rest Wednesday at 10:00 am in Rhea Memory Gardens followed by a white dove release.
