Barbara Ann Mays

Barbara Ann Mays, age 72 of Evensville, died Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Kindred Hospital in Chattanooga. She was born March 23, 1941 on Dayton Mountain to the late Sidney Rothwell and Alice (Dunn) Rothwell Morgan. She was also preceded in death by her husband Gary Doyle Mays, her son Jeffery Keener, her sisters Irene Owens, Ellen Johnson, Aline Hatfield and Sue Webb and her brother Tom Rothwell.
A resident of Rhea County most of her life, she retired from McDonald’s in Hixson. She was an active member of Summer City Church of God.
She is survived by her son Joe Keener of Dayton Mountain, her daughter Connie (Matt) Porter of Jacksonville, FL, her brother Sidney (Ethel) Rothwell of Dayton, her sisters Joyce Miller and Ruby Rice, both of Hixson and Thelma Schlicher of Manchester, one grandson, Travis Porter, and four granddaughters, Candace DeBerry, Jessica Keener, Keri Keener and Heather Vaughn.
Funeral services for Barbara will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Freddie Marler officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Cove Cemetery.
