Archie James Poole Sr.

January 12, 1923 — January 13, 2013

Archie James Poole, Sr., age 90, of Sale Creek, died Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Erlanger North in Chattanooga. A lifelong resident of Sale Creek, he was born January 12, 1923 to the late Samuel and Jessie (Clingan) Poole.
Archie served his country with the U.S. Army in the Philippines during World War II. He was a supervisor and foreman for the Hamilton County Highway Department for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and farming and was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Thelma (Reel) Poole of Sale Creek, two sons Archie “Jim”(June) Poole, Jr., of Evensville and Sammy Poole of Hermitage, two daughters, Judy (Carlos) Cordell and Jackie (Danny) Hixson, both of Sale Creek, nine grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.
Funeral services with military honors will be held Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bill Ewing officiating. He will be laid to rest Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Shelton Cemetery in Sale Creek.

The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funerals Home in Dayton where they will receive friends Tuesday after 4:00 p.m.
