Alice (Bishop) Clayton, age 85 of Dayton, died Thursday evening, January 3, 2019 at Rhea Medical Center in Dayton. She was born August 9, 1933 in Rhea County to the late Estill Lee and Amanda (Morgan) Bishop. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Broyles Donelson Clayton, her grandson, Billy Clayton and her brother, Virgil Bishop.
Alice lived in Dayton all of her life where she was formerly a saleslady at Redford’s 5&10 and at Rolane. Alice was a member of the Rhea Richland Senior Neighbors and a member of the New Bethel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her son, Donnie (Joan) Clayton of Murfreesboro; her daughter, Dorothy (Donny) Anderson of Dayton; four grandchildren, Justin Clayton, Allison (Dale) Bowman, Amanda Anderson and Dennis Fine; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and her sister Virginia Dunn of Dayton.
Funeral services for Alice will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Glenn Moseley and Rev. Harold Dixson officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Spence Cemetery in Dayton.
