Alice Bessie Bishop, age 90 of Dayton passed away at her home early Saturday morning, January 30, 2010. Alice was born in Rhea County on September 21, 1919 the daughter of the late John and Affie (Stinnett) Gravett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Austin Bishop, sisters, Betty Morgan and Nell Gennoe, brothers, Junior, Eugene, Billy and Dennis Gravett ,her son-in-law Billy Adams, and brother-in-laws, Buddy Hicks and Billy Brooks.
Alice was a life long resident of Dayton where she was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church. She retired from Robinsons Manufacturing after 35 years of service.
She is survived by her two daughters, Charlotte (Donald) Dotson and Jo Adams, two sisters, Leola Hicks and Lenora Brooks, two brothers, Frank (Mickey) Gravett and Paul (Lela) Gravett, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter all of Dayton.
Funeral services for Alice will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel with her pastor, Rev. Bill Treadway officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Rhea Memory Gardens.
