Rev. Albert Jay Levengood, Jr., went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Monday evening, September 17, 2012, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born February 12, 1929 in St. Louis, MO to the late Albert Jay and Ella (Martin) Levengood, Sr.
Rev. Al was a graduate of Rhea Central High School and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Bryan College. He was a teacher in the Rhea County school system and was the former pastor of Cranmore Cove Baptist Church. He was also a Director of Tennessee Mountain Mission and Cumberland Springs Bible Camp and was a member of Cranmore Cove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joyce (Cooper) Levengood of Dayton, daughters Karen Johnson and Kathy (Mike) Hathaway of Dayton and Karla (Burt) Graham of Spring City, grandchildren Matt (Angel) Johnson, Mandi (Dexter) Cranfill, Robby Johnson, Luke (Rachel) Hathaway, and Tabatha (Tim) Coleman, all of Dayton and Rachel (fiancee’Jared Marshall) Hathaway of Chattanooga, great-grandchildren Baylee Nunley, Carley Thomas, Derrick Coleman, Logan, Eli, and Maggie Johnson, all of Dayton, sisters Grace Bennett of Knoxville and Miriam Levengood of Tahlequah, OK.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice of Chattanooga for their care and comfort and a special thanks to Rebecca Anderson for her loving care of Rev. Al.
Funeral services for Rev. Levengood will be Thursday at 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bob Schafer and Rev. David Haynes officiating. He will be laid to rest in Rhea Memory Gardens, followed by a white dove release.
