Rose Velma Arnold, age 86, of Dayton died Sunday, March 30, 2014 at her home in Dayton. She was born July 5, 1927 in Dayton to the late Noah and LaVada (Towery) Cain. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Melvin Dean Arnold; son, Ronnie Arnold; two great-grandsons, Tyler Sneed and Ty Reed; four sisters, Elsie Morgan, Bessie Cain, Jeniev Hill, and Eva Glanville and her three brothers, James, Earl and Bill Cain.
A life-long resident of Dayton, Rose had been employed at Oster for eleven years before she began taking care of children which she continued until the age of 85. She was affectionately known as “Mama Rose”. Rose was a wonderful cook and enjoyed serving others. She loved her family and was most happy when she was with them. Rose was a member of Foursquare Gospel Church.
Rose is survived by her four daughters, Linda (Leon) Sneed, Diane (Frank) Welch, Vickie (Roy) Wilson and Melba (James) Huffman, all of Dayton; her seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, nine step great-grandchildren and her sister, Irene Glanville of Finksburg, Maryland.
Funeral services for Rose will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gary Glanville officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Rhea Memory Gardens followed by a white dove release.
