Naomi Katherine Tice, age 87, of Evensville died Sunday evening, May 4, 2014 at her home. She was born February 3, 1927 in Dayton to the late George and Nancy Catherine (Ritchey) Higgins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Tice; sisters, Alma Walker and Mary Ellen Weispfenning and brother, Nelson Higgins.
A resident of Rhea County most of her life, Naomi was a private duty registered nurse and enjoyed traveling, especially to Alaska, fishing and reading. Naomi served her country as a surgical nurse in the medical detachment, 3rd US Army at the rank of major.
Naomi is survived by her sisters, Doris Kimsey of Dayton, Patricia Powell of Columbus, GA, and Marjorie (Richard) Tipton of Evensville; her brother, Donald (Peggy) Higgins of McMinnville and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services with military honors for Naomi will be held Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. in the Summer City Cemetery on Dayton Mountain with Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald officiating.
