Obituary:
PIERCY, MARY MAGLEE TALLENT CARTER – age 93 of Knoxville, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2010 at University of Tennessee Medical Center, surrounded by close family members. She was born in Dayton, on July 7, 1916, the daughter of the late John & Alice (Corvin) Tallent and was also preceded in death by her husbands, Ed Carter & Tom Piercy, her brothers, Marshall, Roger, Robert, Fred Tallent and sisters, Lorena Davis, Annie Sue Hardin, Polly Sharpe, Doris Tallent & Alba Tallent. Mary was raised in Dayton and in 1933 she moved to Cincinnati, OH and remained there until moving to Chattanooga in 1946. In 2005, she moved to Powell to be near her family. During WWII, she worked as a parachute inspector. After marrying and moving to Chattanooga, she spent her life devoted to her family and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chattanooga for many years before moving to Powell, TN in 2005. She is survived by her three sons, Bill (Ethel) Carter of OH, Bob (Joyce) Piercy of Powell, Kit Piercy of TX, daughter Pam (Alton) Treadway of TX. Grandchildren, Cherie Piercy of Knoxville, Cindy Rape of TX, David (Debbie) Carter of OH, Scott Treadway of TX, Tim (Allison) Treadway of Ooltewah, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mary will be held Friday at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel with Rev. JC Gholdston officiating. Burial followed by a white dove release will be in Buttram Cemetery.
