Tom Vanderwall, Owner, Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer
Tom Vanderwall Owner, Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. Tom was born and raised in Muskegon, MI and graduated from Muskegon College before earning his degree in mortuary science from the Indiana College of Mortuary Science in 1974.
He owned and operated a funeral home in Charlevoix County, MI until moving to Dayton in 1986. Choosing to make Dayton his lifelong home, he transferred his funeral director and embalmer licenses from Michigan to Tennessee.
He is a member of Grace Bible Church, the Dayton Rotary Club and the Dayton Chamber of Commerce.
He and his wife Jan have been married 37 years and have four sons, one daughter and two grandchildren.
Jan Vanderwall
Jan Vanderwall Owner. Jan was born and raised in Muskegon, MI. She and her husband Tom have four sons, one daughter and two grandchildren. Jan is a member of Grace Bible Church where she is a mentor for the "Moms4Moms" group and she enjoys sewing and gardening her flowers. (Jan is not licensed).
Alex J. Vanderwall, Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer
Alex Vanderwall Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. Alex is a 2002 graduate of Rhea County High School and a 2005 graduate of Samford University in Birmingham, AL where he received his degree in business administration. He completed his degree in mortuary science at Jefferson State in Birmingham, AL in 2007.
Alex is a lifelong resident of Dayton where he and his wife, Lisa Swafford Vanderwall are members of the First United Methodist Church in Dayton. Alex enjoys the outdoors, hunting and spending time on his farm.
Elmer Vanderwall
Elmer Vanderwall Elmer has been a funeral director's assistant for his son since he retired from Sears in 1974. Elmer was born and raised in Muskegon, MI and is a former First Lieutenant with the US Army serving in the South Pacific during WWII. He and his wife Donna were married 66 years until her passing in 2008.
He is a member of Grace Bible Church, has two sons, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. (Elmer is not licensed)
Bobby Doss
Bobby Doss Bobby is a lifelong resident of Dayton where he lives with his wife Cindy (Rothwell) Doss and their son Holden. Bobby graduated from Rhea County High School in 1978. He is a member of Smyrna Baptist Church where he is a trustee. Bobby is well known for his love of sports and currently serves as a Dayton city councilman and vice-mayor. Bobby has been with Vanderwall Funeral Home and Rhea Memory Gardens since 1988. (Bobby is not licensed)
Jackie (Revis) Reed
Jackie has been secretary and office manager for Vanderwall Funeral Home since 2007. She is a graduate of Rhea Central High School, class of 1969 and attends New Union Baptist Church. Jackie has two daughters, two step-daughters and four grandchildren. She enjoys "digging in the dirt", planting flowers and vegetables and preserving the fruits and vegetables she grows. She loves to cook and is an ardent cookbook collector, owning more than 200 cookbooks. Jackie is also a licensed insurance agent for the funeral home.
Eric Stultz
Eric Stultz Eric was born and raised in Sale Creek and graduated from Sale Creek High School in 1961. He and his wife Carolyn (Stevens) Stultz have been married 47 years and are members of First Baptist Church in Dayton. Eric retired from W.R. Grace Chemical Company after forty years. He served his country with the Tennessee National Guard for six years and enjoys running, bicycling and weight training. (Eric is not Licensed)
